Vehicle Description

Here is the fabulous 1974 Cadillac Sedan DeVille! "More than ever... America's number one luxury car"Up for sale is the most luxurious car I've gotten to own, the 1974 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. This car has a great story, and I am hoping a great future. Originally spending its life in Nebraska, it has remained with the same family since its purchase on May 4th 1974, I was sold the car 7 years ago and got her roadworthy and polished, being the second owner means a lot to me. I picked up the car in Geneva, NE, in the family warehouse and drove it all the way back to Colorado with doing nothing but changing the battery and filling with gas, the car just floats on down the road.Since my ownership, I've had it looked over and had maintenance done all by a certified mechanic, replaced the belts, fixed the trunk lock, the brakes, got the air conditioner working and even had the transmission replaced. The car is perfectly roadworthy and could easily handle a road trip... the car certainly has the space!!This incredible car is a true piece of history, I would argue that this is the LAST of the great American luxury vehicle, the last of the land yacht. The Oil Crisis of 1973 started in October... Exactly when this particular Cadillac was rolling off the assembly line in Detroit, Michigan. Those who remember the Oil Crisis know that attitudes and ideas about cars changed drastically in America after this event. The focus shifted to making cars smaller, more fuel-efficient, and lighter. Each Cadillac that came next was shorter, less interesting, and had less power, the brand was on the decline. This Cadillac is the gold standard of luxury, the height of American culture, to own a Cadillac meant that you made it. And it's hard not to see why, this car is 19.3 feet long... LONGER than any Chevy Suburban ever made with a 28 gallon fuel tank and weighing 5,100 lbs.!!This car is equipped with a GM 472 cubic inch V8 engine with only 87,257 miles, rare GM "Pharaoh Gold Firemist" paint, AM/FM radio, a power antenna, a power push button open and automatic close trunk, 4 cigarette lighters and ashtrays, locking gas cap, 3 sets of keys, retrofitted Air Conditioning using R-134a, Cruise Control, auto dimming headlights, rare intact dashboard map light, enormous 20.8 cu ft trunk, incredible rare option GM "Maharaja" interior pattern, front and back middle bench armrests, original Cadillac rubber floor mats, high beams, pillarless automatic windows, vinyl top, turn signal indicators on the front fenders, the last year for round headlights, AutoCraft Platinum battery with lever shut off for storage, Colorado 1974 original plates and Nebraska plates, rear fender skirts, great hardly driven on white wall tires, a car cover, the 1974 Cadillac dealership booklet, Cadillac shop manual, car manual, Chilton's Service Manual, family history papers and some goodies I have picked off of various Cadillacs I have found in junkyards, including a full passenger side mirror waiting to be installed! The car has a few quirks, such as a temperamental antenna, some wear on the driver's seat, vinyl top has some wear and could be replaced with a better color (my dad suggests black all the time), and a couple road paint chips. The undercarriage is very clean for its age with no rust rot or scaling visible. I don’t have a lift, but anyone local is welcome to inspect it in person. There's also a touchy seatbelt sensor, but none of these minor details affect the car's overall performance or classic appeal. I've already replaced and color-matched the 1970s' notoriously fragile rear bumper plastic pieces, so those are in good shape. As far as I know, these are just small details that may need attention over time. The car is being sold as is with no warranty and a clean Colorado title. For now, she is safe inside my garage with the cover on. This Cadillac is ready for a road trip! If you're out of state, I'm just 25 minutes from Denver International Airport, and I'd be happy to show the car in person, so plan a trip to Colorado and see this baby cruise! She needs to be driven, so I have no problem with test drives, it's like driving a cloud with windows! Please feel free to reach out over phone, text or email, I am always happy to talk about the history and the car and store it until you can arrange transport. If it doesn’t sell, that’s alright. I’ll keep driving it now and then, and it’ll stay covered in the garage until I list it again next spring.Just to be transparent, the reserve is set at $15,000. It’s a fair figure that reflects the car’s condition, originality, rare color combo, and the time and care I put into making it roadworthy.$500 deposit is due within 24 hours to secure the car, with full payment due in 7 days.Year: 1974VIN: 6D49RQ135254Mileage: 87,257Interior Color: GoldExterior Color: Pharaoh Gold FiremistNumber of Seats: 6Number of Previous Owners: 1Transmission: 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmissionSuspension: Front independent suspension with coil springs, rear live axle with coil springs.
