1918 Cadillac Type 55 V8 Rebuilt Engine. Runs and Drives.

Vehicle Description
1918 Cadillac Type 55, we believe. Body #55N559. Engine # 58B105True barn find. This car has been off the road and stored indoors since before World War 2, 1941-42.In 1985 the body was pulled off, engine rebuilt, chassis freshened up(steering, trans, diff may be rebuilt, I cant say for sure), then the owner got busy with his business and never finished the body.Engine has a legitimate 30 miles on rebuild(done in '85). Runs very smooth, lots of power, no abnormal noises. Minimal exhaust haze because the rings aren't fully seated yet. Does seep oil from the pan, possibly because I overfilled it.58N serial number on engine. No info found on it other than the GM historical society has no info on it either.Transmission shifts good. Pto driven air compressor seems to work as well .Rear end is tight and quiet. It may have been rebuilt too but not sure.Brakes work. It will lock up the tires on dry pavementSteering is tight, drives straight. I've had it up to 55 and it still steers good.Front tires are from the 80s and hold air. Rear tires from around '36 or so according to vintage advertisements.Body is rough. Rust on lower portions, rotted 100 year old wood, body missing from the rear doors back.Wiring is original. Doesn't charge but starter does work most of the time. I wired the starter and ignition for it to run.Runs off of original fuel tank. Works but should be cleaned out.I added the depression era wood flatbed. The rotted body and crude bed go perfect as a '30s Cali bound truck.Unknown history. 40's-'82ish it sat inside a shop on the TX-NM line. '82-'25 it was in NM in a shop. I'm told it was possibly used for the 1940 "Grapes of Wrath" movie as a second or backup vehicle. It has the same style bumper and wheels as the movie truck. Who knows.I am pretty sure it was a wrecker at one point due to the hood painting.Bill of sale, no title.$500 non-refundable deposit with Buy it Now.Can work with you on shipping.
