low miliage survivor ready to drive anywhere

Vehicle Description
Purchased new in June of 1938 by Beatrice Douglass, this Cadillac spent its first few years in West Orange, NJ next door to the home of Thomas Edison. In February of 1941 it was sold to Michael DeCapua. Decapua owned a thriving livery service and had the car painted black.DeCapua was an enthusiast and used the car for special occasions, hence the absurdly low mileage of 24,000. Over the years driving several New Jersey governors in parades, in 1946 DeCapua used his Cadillac to drive then President Harry S. Truman in Newark on his re-election campaign. In 1970, Champion spark plugs featured DeCapua, his car and his son in a two page advertisement.Mr. DeCapua passed in 1999 and his daughter inherited her father's beloved Cadillac. She has faithfully cared for this car over the last 26 years and is now ready to let it go.Non-OEM updates:-Coker bias look radial tires-Electric fuel pump to facilitate easy starting after prolonged storage-Two (new this year) Optima 6 volt batteries and a main power kill switchThe low mileage and fastidious maintenance are obvious when driving. The car is capable of highway speeds and I would not hesitate to drive it long distances, in fair weather of course. Serious bidders welcome to view the car in person during business hours or via video call by appointment.
