1936 Derby Bentley 4 1/4 saloon with body by Hooper This Bentley remained with one family for more than 40 years. Her original body work is in good condition as is the chassis, engine, gearbox and other mechanicals. She would benefit greatly from a new set of tires and cosmetically is in need of a repaint. When we acquired this Bentley in 2024 it had seen very little use in the proceeding years. The owner states that he drove it a few months earlier but not extensively. We gave her a good servicing changing all of the oils and fluids. She also received new valve seals, water pump rag joint, alternator rag joint and steering rag joint as well as new belt and hoses. Brakes were checked and found in good operating order. The steering box was serviced and oil refreshed. She starts well, runs well, runs cool and has good oil pressure. The transmission shifts properly through the gears. She really needs a new set of tires. Even though these do not show much where they are bias plies with too many years of sitting. This causes significant vibrations when driving. The coach work is all aluminum and in very good condition. Wth the exception of the right rear door there is little to no sag in the hinges. The carpet is older but presentable. The leather is in good condition and presents well. The headliner is thought to be original and in respectable condition for its age. The finish on the wood has a nice patina. All the instruments are present though currently the fuel gauge does not function and is not installed but included with the vehicle. The age of the paint is unknown, but the dark green paint has numerous chips, cracks and flaking.
