Vehicle Description

Austin England American hot rod v8

Vehicle Details

Recently pulled from a garage where it’s been parked for the better part of 30/40 years. Selling my 1949 Austin A40 Devon sedan. This was built a very long time ago and was done quite well.

It has a 327 small block Chevy (possibly a 350), th400 transmission, 10 bolt Chevy rear, ladder bars, custom built headers, driveshaft loop and more. Whoever built this car did a very nice job, they modified the firewall and engine bay in a way where it’s hardly noticeable. All the work is very well executed and this car was running and driving at one point in time. The floors and frame rails are very solid. Body is absolutely pin straight and clean with no obvious rust issues to be found. All the glass is intact, car rolls and steers easily. This would make an absolutely awesome gasser project or street rod, you don’t often see these pop up at your local car show.

The engine is current soaking in marvel mystery oil, it moved a little but I didn’t want to force it so I figured it be best to let it soak a while before attempting to turn it over fully. I have no idea the condition of the motor as it’s been laying for a very long time. Transmission looks like it was fairly fresh, has a deep cast aluminum pan. Unsure of the rear end gear ratio. Shifter is hooked up, car has park and rolls and steers. Brakes are all intact but master cylinder will need replacing/rebuild.

I have no paper work with this car, I was given an old NYS ford registration with it but I’m sure you can get it registered as an Austin depending on your state, I can provide a bill of sale with the car. Would love to see this go to a good home and get put back on the road. This thing is just so unique and well built. I’d freshen up the engine, change the wheels and make this a gasser but to each their own. Long Island NY, my phone number is on the sign in the photos. Bed to call with questions. Can assist with loading if you need it shipped.
