1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider 1600 Normale

Vehicle Description
I'm representing this Giulia Spider for a long time Alfa Romeo client and friend that purchased it from a dealer in New York in August of 2018.It came with no history or documentation. As a lifelong Alfa Owner, enthusiast and dealer, I'm also representing this Giulia Spider with no bias for potential buyers. So, bid with confidence and please feel free to contact me(Todd Spruell)if you have any questions.Since current ownership, this Giulia has been maintained and stored in Marietta GA and has never been registered.1965 was the final year of production of the iconic Giulia Spider and the Alfa Romeo historic registry indicates that chassis AR 392552 is a 101.23 series with a production date of November 30th 1964 and USA delivery date of April 16th 1965. The original colors were white with black interior.According to the Fusi book the1600 engine AR00112*16089 is from a later model and is not the original engine. The seller recently moved out state, and the decision was made to sell it with the New York Retail Certificate of Sale and a Bill of Sale.During ownership this Giulia received new tires, hoses and hydraulics. Engine tune up included a valve adjustment and a slightly larger pre emissions Solex carburetor and larger air venturi's. The engine cold starts easily, makes no valve or bottom end noises and blows no smoke. The 5-speed gearbox is in excellent condition with good syncros and clutch. The rear brake drums were fitted with new shoes and work well. It's runs well and feels strong. The dark metallic green paint and black vinyl with green piped seats and dash were performed a long time ago. I'd guess in the 80's or 90's. The body is in good condition. No sign of any heavy collision and there are no rust holes. The rocker panels have definitely been replaced and are rust free. The floors and trunk floor have been repaired as well, but to what extent is unknown, as they have been insulated over. The only hole through the floor is a 1/4" gap around the fuel filler neck where it comes up through the trunk floor. That does need to be sealed. The doors, hood and trunk gaps are pretty good. The only body line that is notably off is behind the right front wheel at the rocker panel. The body is set in about 1/2" from the stainless rocker trim (just below the Pinin Farina emblem (see pictures). It is subtle, but indicates body repair in that area. The paint has plenty of patina. On close inspection it has some texture, bubbles and scratches. It could look a little better with some polishing and touch up. So it is driver quality (not show). The windshield was also replaced when it was painted. It has no pits and there are some very light scratches on the drivers side. The The chrome and stainless are in nice condition overall. The headlight and tail lights chrome trim look new. The bumpers and windshield frame appear to have been re-chromed and the bumpers have a few minor scuffs. The original chrome, such as door handles and trunk latch have some patina. The stainless trim looks nice, but could look better with polishing. The headlights, tail lights, brake, turn indicators and tag lights all work. The interior ventilation fan and wipers work via aftermarket auxiliary switches (under the originals). The horns work but need a tune up. The interior light below the glove box does not work. I did not check to see if the cigar lighter works, but it looks well used. The stereo might work, but currently is not getting power. It also has an auxiliary switch for the windshield washer that does not work. The gauges work, however the tachometer starts making quite a bit of noise when driving. It does not make noise at idle, so I suspect it will need to rebuilt. The top frame is rust free and operates correctly. The tan canvas top and plastic windshield are in good condition with no rips or tears. The seats are comfortable, but the foam is old and foam dust is falling out of the bottoms. The window cranks are not original. It does have seat belt eyelets on each side of the driveshaft tunnel for receivers. It does not have the outer eyelets and therefore has no lap belts. The trunk does open with the key, but the latch has to be manually opened each time to latch closed. It needs to be repaired or replaced.Underneath... replaced springs, shocks and muffler stand out. Although I was not able to do an extended test drive due to the lack of registration, the suspension feels tight, the alignment is good and it does not pull left of right under braking. The odometer reading when it was purchased in 2018 was 69,690 and currently indicates 69,752 miles. Given it's age and lack of documentation, it is being sold TMU (true mileage unknown). Given that it has only been driven approximately 150 miles in the past seven years, I would plan to have it transported, if you are not very local. It does have a spare wheel and tire but no tools. It comes with a owner's manual (in Italian) and no spare key.The reserve price is set below market value. Bid to win.A $500 non returnable deposit is due upon winning bid. Buyer is responsible to arrange for pick up or transport, preferably within one week. But we understand how that works and are flexible.
